I’ve been a part of the blogging/personal webdesign world for over a decade now, and it’s interesting to note the changes that have taken place over the past eleven years. Back in the day Noah Gray‘s CMS, Greymatter, was the must-have blogging software. And we were all apart of link exchanges and button rotations, which are just what they sound like — organized link exchanges, and button rotations that allowed random buttons to be displayed on participating websites. It was a great, hassle-free way to get additional exposure — just set and forget, you know? The nice thing was that all sites were displayed equally, so there wasn’t the issue of a site about lab coats being displayed more frequently than a site about orange county jewelry. All was fair in the link & button exchange world.
