Tomorrow I’ll be getting an up-close view of lab coats for women. First I have a dental appointment at 11:00am. In addition to the routine cleaning and checkup performed by the dental assistant, I’m also getting a chipped molar looked at, and hopefully fixed. According to WebMD, they can often file it down and refill it (this particular molar chipped because part of the original filling from when I was eight years old fell out, boo) quickly and relatively painlessly.

Then, at 3:00pm, I have an appointment with my surgeon’s assistant to further deal with and diagnose extreme abdominal pain I’m having. Before the abdominal pain was related to my gallbladder. This time, my money is on a partial bowel kink/obstruction — more than likely an obstruction caused by scar tissue that built up after the two surgeries I had back-to-back (November 2009: gastric bypass | October 2010: gallbladder removal). While the presence of the scar tissue itself is minor, the complications it can cause (bowel kinking, obstruction, perforation, strangling, etc.) are not. :/

Description: If security for your home or business is first and foremost in your mind, don’t speculate on what’s going on while you’re not aware or not there; be proactive as well as reactive by installing a video security system. Video security systems are inexpensive, but most importantly they are an excellent deterrent for many would-be criminals. And for the brazen ones who do something to your property anyway, rest assured that the evidence captured on a video security system can be used to bring them to justice.

Thrifty finds

If I wasn’t so busy with everyday life (read: working from home full-time, taking care of a six year old daughter and an autistic four year old), then you better believe that I would spend more time scouring thrift stores and the like for treasure. Even the local Goodwill has some nice stuff to offer, if my own donations (brand new clothes with tags attached, high quality toys, recently published books in excellent condition, etc.) are any indication. While I may not be able to find wedding rings Orange county in a Goodwill or Salvation Army store, I can find plenty of high quality and usable childrens clothes.

My husband’s grandmother was a very big fan of thrift stores, and some of her finds, including a pretty white wicker bassinet and a brand new crib frame (with mattress!) even benefited us. :)

Even though May is just two weeks away, you can still come down with the flu. And if you haven’t received a flu vaccination from a professional in a lab coat, then you’re definitely at risk. Have kids in school, or work around others? Then you’re doubly at risk. (As for me, I’m a work-at-home mom, but having two kids attending three different schools + a husband who works with the public means lots and lots of germs that I’m being exposed to all of the time)

I received a vaccination last fall, so fortunately I’m covered. How about you?
